Three Armed Spirals This area of the Mandelbrot set is dominated by the number three. The spiral we are zooming in on has three arms, and other less obvious manifestations of three are also present. For instance, when iterating points in the attached bulb in order to calculate the Mandelbrot set, the points tend to repeat every six (two times three) times.
