Five Armed Spirals This area of the Mandelbrot set is dominated by the number five. The spiral we are zooming in on has five arms, and other less obvious manifestations of five are also present. For instance, when iterating points in the attached bulb in order to calculate the Mandelbrot set, the points tend to repeat every ten (two times five) times.
