Far West This area is named for its location, at the western edge of the Mandelbrot set. An infinitely thin spike of Mandelbrot set interior stops abruptly at precisely (-2, 0). We branch off from that area eventually because the pattern of virtually unchanging iteration bands continues forever as you zoom in.
