(Zero, One)
The Mandelbrot set is possibly the most complex mathematical object that has
ever been explored. Yet, despite its incredible complexity it has
elements of predictable order. The area around the point (0, 1) - shown
above - is one of those.
The exact same sequence of filigreed arms repeats endlessly
as you zoom in, turning one full rotation precisely every twenty
zooms (approximately one million times change in magnification).
This particular zoom movie only goes for eighty zooms, but the pattern
repeats forever.
To appreciate some of the characteristics of this zoom movie you
should try increasing the zoom playback speed using the up arrow
key. See the plug-in help
for more information.
